The civic body on Wednesday launched the ‘CleanCovaiLeague’ (CCL) competition for college students as a part of Swachhata Hi Seva celebration on Gandhi Jayanti on Wednesday.
District Collector K. Rajamani launched the competition in the presence of Corporation Commissioner Sravan Kumar Jatavath, Deputy Commissioner S. Prasanna Ramasamy and City Health Officer K. Santhoshkumar.
Students could take up one of the following themes – waste segregation or rainwater harvest or home composting or dengue awareness – to direct a short film of one to three minutes or use ‘tiktok’ app to create a video or create memes so as to bring about awareness among the public.
It would close the window for registration on October 27 and on November 14 it would distribute prizes for three best submissions in each of the themes in the above mentioned platforms.
For the school students the Corporation would come up with another programme, the Commissioner said.In keeping with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's appeal for improving cleanliness and sanitation, avoiding plastics, the Corporation was strictly enforcing the State Government's ban on one-time use plastic items.
Mr. Rajamani said unlike several programmes in the past, the Swachh Bharat programme that Mr. Modi had launched was a success because he had turned it into a people's movement. Unless people's participation was ensured no scheme would succeed.
